Emergency Communications

The Dinwiddie County Emergency Communications Center is the centralized public safety answering point (PSAP) for all 9-1-1 calls within Dinwiddie County.

The Emergency Communications Center also provides dispatch services for all public safety services within Dinwiddie County including the Dinwiddie Sheriff's Office, Fire & EMS and Animal Control.

In addition, Emergency Communications is responsible for maintaining the county public safety radio system and all affiliated radio equipment, the Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD), the 9-1-1 addressing and mapping system, and the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) program.

The Emergency Communications Center is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, by a dedicated group of first responders that serve the citizens and visitors of Dinwiddie County.

For all emergencies please dial 9-1-1. In non-emergency situations the Communications Center can be reached by dialing 469-3755

Citizen Check Program

On September 1, 2017, Dinwiddie County Emergency Communications, in partnership with the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Office, launched the Citizen Check Program.

This program is designed to enhance the safety and security of some of the County's more vulnerable citizens.
