Q: Where can I get a concealed handgun application?
A: You can obtain the application at the Circuit Court Clerk's Office or online at the State Police Website. The application and a $50.00 fee will be required before processing. The applications are processed at the Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Office. Additional information concerning Concealed Handgun Permits can be obtained on our CWP Page and at the Virginia State Police website.
Q: How can I obtain a notary application?
A: A notary application can be obtained in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court or by visiting the Commonwealth of Virginia site: http://www.commonwealth.virginia.gov/OfficialDocuments/Notary/notary.cfm.
Q: What do I need to bring with me to obtain a marriage license?
A: Marriage licenses are issued Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Both parties need to be present with a photo ID and $30.00 (cash, check or money order). You must marry within 60 days of receiving your license.
Q: How can I find a lien on my property?
A: The record room has judgments, financing statements, mortgages and many other land records. The record room is open to the public. You can research lien information Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

A: You must go to the Circuit Court of the county in which the decedent resided at the time of death. It will be necessary to contact the clerk of the Circuit Court in order to set up an appointment and review the information needed to qualify on the decedent's estate. Q: Where can I get a copy of my divorce decree?
A: You can obtain your divorce decree with the Dinwiddie Circuit Court's Clerk Office if you finalized the decree with this court. There is a $.50/page copy fee and $2.00 per document if you want it certified. Requests can be in person or by mail.
Q: Where can I get a copy of a deed or a plat for a parcel of land?
A: Land records are kept in the record room in the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. You will need to have reference information on the property (i.e., property owner's name, tax parcel number of property or address of property, etc.) This information can be obtained by visiting the Dinwiddie County Assessor's Office or from the Online Real Estate Assessments site, which can be accessed by clicking here.
Q: Where can I pay my traffic fines?
A: Traffic fines are usually paid in the Clerk's Office of General District Court. Their telephone number is (804) 469-4533. If you appealed your case, it would be paid at the Clerk's Office of Circuit Court.
