Clergy must be affiliated with a local church in Dinwiddie County to be considered for authorization to perform wedding ceremonies in the Commonwealth of Virginia, pursuant to the Code of Virginia § 20-23.

Requirements

  1. Complete the Affidavit and Order Form. PDF-Fillable*
  2. Present a copy of his/her ordination papers or local minister’s license.
  3. Document of recent date (less than 30 days old) from his/her superior or church board stating that he/she is in good standing with the church for which he/she is ordained.
  • $29.00 Filing Fee (Cash/Check/MO)

2. You will sign the affidavit and take the Oath in front of the Clerk/Deputy Clerk

3. You will be given a certified copy of the Oath and Order of appointment
