Clergy must be affiliated with a local church in Dinwiddie County to be considered for authorization to perform wedding ceremonies in the Commonwealth of Virginia, pursuant to the Code of Virginia § 20-23.

Complete the Affidavit and Order Form. PDF-Fillable*

Affidavit and Order – Must sign in front of clerk/deputy clerk

Example of Affidavit and Order

Present a copy of his/her ordination papers or local minister’s license.

Document of recent date (less than 30 days old) from his/her superior or church board stating that he/she is in good standing with the church for which he/she is ordained.

3. You will be given a certified copy of the Oath and Order of appointment
