3. Once payment and agreement are recieved the Clerk's Office will email when your account has been setup.

Pursuant to Code of Virginia § 17.1-276, Clerk’s have the authority to charge a fee for subscription to the Circuit Court’s Land Records.  This allows the Clerk’s Office to protect the citizens’ identity by maintaining a separate login for each user at the same time allowing the office to recover the operational costs of the system.  If you are interested please fill out the sign-up agreement below and return it to the Clerk’s Office.  Please contact the Clerk, John Barrett Chappell, Jr., with any questions or concerns regarding the Secure Remote Access Policy.  Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

Recording Information:

The Circuit Court Clerk's Office records deeds, deeds of trust (mortgages), and other official instruments/documents associated with land transactions in Dinwiddie County.  In order for a document to be recorded, it must be one that is authorized by law to be recorded in the Deed Book and it must meet certain statutory provisions.

Monday – Friday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm)

Social Security Numbers:

Redaction is the electronic process of removing the Social Security Number from a document.  This office under took a major redaction project in April of 2008 before our images were made available online to ensure the protection of our citizens’ identity. 

Pursuant to Code of Virginia § 17.1-227, this office will not knowingly accept or record any documents that include the Social Security Number of any party.
