Sheriff D.T. “Duck” Adams was elected Sheriff of Dinwiddie County on November 8, 2011, defeating the incumbent Sheriff, and took office on January 1, 2012 for a current term of four years ending on December 31, 2015. Sheriff Adams came to work at Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office in 1975 after his graduation from Dinwiddie County High School and spent his entire career with the department. During his tenure with Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Adams has held the position of Dispatcher, Jailor, Patrol Deputy, Sergeant and Lieutenant / Chief Investigator. Over the course of the career with the Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Adams has attended over thirty different training sessions on various aspects of law enforcement and is a graduate of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy.
